The Cluster Platform 280/3 system from the SunTone Platforms portfolio provides self-sustained building blocks integrated through Sun Cluster technology to support highly available applications.

This guide describes how to configure your Cluster Platform 280/3 system. It is intended for system administrators who are familiar with the Solaris operating environment and with the following software: Solstice DiskSuite,
Sun Management Center (Sun MC), Sun Enterprise Explorer, Sun StorEdge Component Manager, VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM), and Sun Cluster 3.0.

For specific information about configuring disk sets, disk volumes, file systems, and data services, refer to the Sun Cluster 3.0 documentation.

How This Book is Organized

This guide is organized in the following manner:

• Chapter 1 contains an overview of the Cluster Platform 280/3 system and describes the pre-installed and pre-configured hardware and software of your factory-integrated system. It also provides the power and heating requirements for site preparation and planning.
• Chapter 2 contains the hardware and software setup instructions for your system.
• Chapter 3 contains the recovery procedures to restore the factory-integrated management server software environment in case of a serious failure that cannot be recovered from backups.
• Appendix A provides the settings for accessing the terminal concentrator from a laptop computer.
• Appendix B lists the connections for the factory-cabled hardware components.
• Appendix C describes how to configure a port for a tip hardwire connection.
• Appendix D provides instructions for running the Sun Explorer data collector and Sun Management Center software.
• Appendix E contains procedures for installing and using the Sun StorEdge Component Manager software.
• Appendix F provides instructions for configuring the Sun Ray server software and accessing the management server from a Sun Ray appliance.
• Appendix G discusses the highly available Network File System (HA-NFS) agent and its associated scripts.
