Upgrading the Agent

This section describes how to upgrade from the VCS enterprise agent 3.5 for Oracle in a VCS cluster.

  1. Save the VCS configuration and stop the VCS engine.
      # haconf -dump -makero
      # hastop -all -force
  2. Back up the configuration file, main.cf to a location on the cluster node.
  3. Follow step a through step c on all systems on which the Oracle agent was installed.
    1. Remove the Oracle agent.

    2.    # swremove VRTSvcsor
    3. Delete the file /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/config/OracleTypes.cf.
    4. Install the VCS enterprise agent 4.1 for Oracle. See Installing the Agent Software for instructions.
  4. Copy the file OracleTypes.cf from the directory /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/ to the /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/config directory.
  5. Copy the main.cf from the backed up location to /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/config.
  6. Edit the main.cf located under /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/config.
    Replace all resources of type Sqlnet with resources of type Netlsnr. See Resource Type Definitions for information about the attributes in this version of the Oracle agent.
  7. Verify the configuration
    cd /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/config
    hacf -verify
  8. Start VCS on local node first.
  9. Start VCS on other nodes.
