Introduction

The Informix enterprise agent monitors specific Informix Dynamic Server resources within an enterprise application, determines the status of these resources, and starts or stops them according to external events. The process of monitoring is common to all agents, but the way they are performed varies according to the enterprise application being monitored.

The agent includes VCS type declarations and agent executables, and is represented by the Informix resource type. When the agent detects an application failure, the Informix service group is failed over to another system in the cluster.
