Once software is packaged, it can easily be transferred to a distribution medium, mass produced, and installed by administrators. The SPB GUI provides a window into the software package structure, showing attributes that can be set for each package element. SPB dynamically loads packaging policies and validates software package attributes against these policies. The SPB command line interface (CLI) can also perform validation of software package attributes against policies and supports automated edits to the software package specification. SPB 2.0 provides the following features: * A GUI for creating product specification files (PSF) in SD format * A command line interface (CLI) for automating nightly changes to packages * A policy validator for verifying a package’s use of legal SD syntax * Ability to view depots and copy and paste information from a depot into a PSF * Ability to view and edit multiple PSF's * Ability to run the swpackage command Change Notification ------------------------- SPB has been updated to support the following new features and functionality: * Edit multiple Product Specification Files (PSF) at the same time * Open and view depot(s) in the SPB GUI * Convert a depot into a PSF * Validate a depot's content * Validate a PSF's content * Ability to run the swpackage command * Automatic display of the current, active policy rules file This release of SPB has also been updated for defect fixes. ============================================================================ REQUIREMENTS ============================================================================ SPB 2.0 requires Java 1.4.0 or greater. Supported Operating Systems ------------------------- The following Operating Systems are supported by SPB: o HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) o HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) o HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31) Additional requirements are in the Getting Started with Software Package Builder User's Guide 2.0 which can be found at the following web site: http://software.hp.com/products/SPB ============================================================================ COMPATIBILITY ============================================================================ No compatibility issues were identified as of release time. ============================================================================ PERFORMANCE ============================================================================ * When adding a pre-existing element to a corequisite (or prerequisite) OR Relation Set, the icon should change from yellow to green but fails to do so. Both of the icons remain yellow. The icons correctly change to green upon exiting the dialog and the elements are then displayed in the the main window. * Java Swing behavior may cause navigational inconsistencies when running SPB. These inconsistencies can potentially lead to data loss. o Mouse click behavior setting is too slow and causes SPB to not buffer all mouse clicks. This compatibility issue is corrected by performing the following procedure and should be completed prior to using SPB: 1. Open the X Client Manager window. 2. From the Menu Bar, select Settings > Mouse. 3. Check which setting is selected for "Middle button emulation". - If this option is set to Disabled, you do not need to complete OR - If this option is set to Left Button + Right Button, proceed to Step 4. 4. In the section titled, "Middle button detection speed", adjust the slider bar to the far right, Fast setting. 5. Click Apply and exit. o Attribute Table Navigation The tab key does not function properly when used to navigate between fields in the Attribute Table. No fix is available as of release time. * Long delays may occur when opening the Manage Fileset Content dialog box if your source directory contains symbolic links. The delay can take up to 30 seconds. No fix is available as of release time. Additional troubleshooting topics are located in the SPB online help system. ============================================================================ DEFECT REPORTING ============================================================================ Use CHART to report defects in STM.
