This is a text description of Figure D-1, "Architecture of NLS Interactions with Your System Components".
The functions illustrated in the figure are described in the surrounding text and by the information in Table D-1.
Five components are shown interconnected. They are: a computer that is running a client process, an Oracle database, an Oracle Database Gateway for DRDA, a DRDA Server, and a non-Oracle database (connected to the DRDA Server). Each of the first four components has a label to indicate any NLS functions.
The client process is running on a computer labeled "Client", which has the NLS function label: "NLS_LANG". This client computer is connected to an Oracle integrating server.
The Oracle database has the NLS function label: "CHARACTER SET". This Oracle database is connected to an Oracle Database Gateway for DRDA.
The Oracle Database Gateway for DRDA has the NLS function labels: "ORA_NLS11", "NLS_LANG", "HS_LANGUAGE", "HS_NLS_DATA_FORMAT", "HS_NLS_DATA_LANGUAGE", and "HS_NLS_NCHAR". The gateway is connected to a DRDA Server.
The DRDA Server has the NLS function label: "CCSID". This DRDA Server is connected to a non-Oracle database, which is the fifth component in the figure.
