This is a text description of Figure 8-3, "Define a Name Server".

The text surrounding the figure describes the use of this dialog box. The figure is a screen capture image and contains example data that may not match your system. You must make selections appropriate for your system. The title bar label is "Microsoft TCP/IP Properties".

This is the same dialog box as in figure 8-2, but a different tab has been selected.

The client area* has five tabs. The tab are labeled "IP Address", "DNS" (selected), "WINS Address", "DHCP Relay", and "Routing". The "DNS" tab has three sections. Below the tab display is a row of three buttons.

The first section has the phrase "Domain Name System (DNS)" and two edit boxes. The first edit box is labeled "Host Name:" (the "H" is underlined) and contains the entry "itdev-nt11". The second edit box is labeled "Domain:" (the "o' is underlined) and contains the entry "us.oracle.com".

The second section is a group box labeled "DNS Service Search Order" (the "S" of Service is underlined). The group box contains a list box with one line of data: "192.168.2.1". To the right of the list box are two buttons labeled "Up" and "Down" (to select items within the list box). Below the list box are three buttons labeled "Add...", "Edit...", and "Remove".

The third section is similar to the second section. It is a group box labeled "Domain Suffix Search Order" (the first "f" of Suffix is underlined). The group box contains a list box (with no data). To the right of the list box are two buttons labeled "Up" and "Down" (to select items within the list box). Below the list box are three buttons labeled "Add...", "Edit...", and "Remove".

The three buttons are labeled: "OK", "Cancel", and "Apply".
